Workforce Disaggregation (LGR)

As you will be aware, the Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) process is now entering its first phase of Workforce Disaggregation.

At this early stage, we want to reassure you that no preferences or formal expressions of interest will be requested from managers or the service.

However, UNISON would strongly encourage all members—even during this initial phase—to make their managers aware of any personal circumstances that could be important later in the process.

While reasonable adjustments and disability-related needs should already be known, we recognise there are other individual situations that may not fall under those categories but are still highly relevant.
Examples of such circumstances may include:

  • Living in close proximity to a particular office or base
  • Caring responsibilities that affect your ability to travel or relocate
  • Any other personal situation that could reasonably impact your work location or pattern

If any of these apply to you, we recommend that you inform your manager in writing. This ensures that your circumstances are recorded and can be taken into account as the reorganisation progresses.

As the LGR process moves into later phases, there will be more formal consultation between the service and the workforce. Nevertheless, early communication helps ensure that decision-makers are aware of your needs from the outset.

If you have any questions require guidance, or would like support in drafting a statement for your manager, please contact us: unison@surreycc.gov.uk

UNISON is here to support you throughout this period of change, and we will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
