UNISON are involved in a long and detailed negotiation with Surrey County Council and Babcock 4S about next years pay and reward settlement for school support staff. This will also include discussion on current terms and conditions and how we are paid in the future.
UNISON and the GMB recently signed an agreement (after a ballot of members) with SCC for this year covering all non-schools staff. This included an average 2-2.5% pay award for those who were successful in their appraisals, changes in sick pay and car mileage allowances and introducing some flexibility into contracts.
For last year, UNISON and GMB consulted schools support staff and balloted on a straightforward offer of a 1% cost of living award and 1% incremental rise towards the tops of people’s pay scales (for those with headroom). This was overwhelmingly accepted.
To keep up to date regarding this year’s negotiations, make sure your school has an elected local UNISON rep who can attend all the reps meetings with SCC and report back to you. They can also feedback your views into the negotiations. If you are interested in becoming a local rep, contact us today.
